Scientists Discover New Species in Deep Ocean Expedition

A research expedition to the Pacific abyssal zone has catalogued more than one hundred previously unknown species, including several types of bioluminescent fish and a new genus of coral. Researchers said the findings underscore how little is known about deep-sea ecosystems and warned that mining interests pose a growing threat.
